Paul's Boutique remastered
All sorts of cool shit going on at the Beastie Boys' website as they present the 20th Anniversary edition of one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time, Paul's Boutique. The album was completely remastered and, according to Adam Yauch, "finally has enough bass to blow off your frozen testicle". Good to know. They've also got this dope audio commentary track you can download, where the Boys themselves give insight and share stories on the making of the album -- like a DVD commentary. Awesome.
Don't sleep on it.

Right...
A note left behind by a man who killed two people and injured seven before shooting himself outside of a Portland night club...
To my friends and family:
I am sorry.
And to my friend, (redacted)
I am especially sorry. I know it's not much consolation but as my friend and roommate you are entitled to everything that I own. Maybe these things can bring in a few bucks.
Good luck in this (expletive) world.
Erik
If you need my personal information for any reason, here it is:
My ssn: (redacted)
My bank account number: (redacted)
My alien number: (redacted)
My ODL: 974739
My birthdate: 03-10-84
The check I wrote you should be most of the money in my account. I gave you an affidavit in case you want to check what's left but it's probably less than $20.
Qwest account login (www.qwest.com/myaccount):

My car is up to date with maintenance. It just leaks a little oil. You can probably get at least 2.5 grand for it. It'll be somewhere downtown but I'm not sure where. I'm sure you'll get a letter about it soon.
You know my ps3 is special. Similar USED ps3's go for AT LEAST $450-$500. Our landlord guy wants a ps3 like mine. Let him know that $400 would be a GOOD deal. If he doesn't want it, format the drive by going to Settings>System>Format Utility. You can say it "comes with the latest firmware software" to help market it on the internet. In case you don't know, it's the special "100% backwards compatible" (60 GB) ps3.
I'm sorry to put all this on you buddy, good luck

pièce touchée by Martin Arnold
Arnold's films are intensely cut sequences in which several seconds of found footage are taken and stretched out into much longer works. The figures on the screen flip back and forth between frames, as the motion is repeated, reversed, and numerous single frame cuts are made. His intent is to create, or possibly unearth, narratives concealed within the mundane films from which he samples.

I had no idea Jason Schwartzman was still making music
It's called Coconut Records, and it doesn't suck ass like Phantom Planet did. I don't love it, but you might. Hurr's a link.

This is a great fucking day
One of the most important moments in this countries history -- I hope everyone watched it and was as moved as I was.
Meanwhile, I'd like to point out that despite Barack Obama's role as the President, morons still exist. I'm just really, really happy they no longer have the same voice. Watch this. Laugh. Feel good about yourself. We did it.

Viva Italia!
Two vintage spaghetti western trailers.
First, "Texas, Adios", an overlooked gem directed by the understated Ferdinando Baldi and starring the venerable Franco Nero.
And "Nava Joe" -- the Burt Reynolds import from 1966. One of Sergio Corbucci's best, and an absolutely amazing score from the legendary Ennio Morricone. Great film. One of my favorite trailer, too.
